Pre War

Rose had passed six subjects in the Junior Certificate, and three in the Leaving Certificate. She had then worked as a general domestic for Mrs Mitchell in Mundijong for two years, and for Mrs Simpson in Byford for one year prior to enrollment.

War Service

On 3 Jan 1942 at the No. 4 RAAF Recruiting Centre Rose enrolled as an Aircraftwoman in the RAAF, mustered as a Mess Steward. She was sent to the WAAAF Training Section of No. 4 Recruit Depot RAAF at Pearce for basic drill training which started the same day. On 14 Feb 1942 Rose was posted to No. 1 School of Technical Training RAAF at the Exhibition Centre in Melbourne to participate in the No. 30 Mess Stewards Course> Following training she returned to RAAF Base Pearce on 14 Mar 1942. Rose was discharged on Compassionate Grounds on 13 Apr 1943 by the No. 5 Embarkation Depot RAAF.


Post War

Married Charles Edward Burrrows in 1944 in Armadale. They had two daughters; Rose Lorraine (b. 7 Aug 1946) and Jeanette.
