On arrival he joined the 25th Infantry Training Battalion before being transferred on 10 Aug 1941 to the 7th Australian Infantry Specialist Group until 14 Sep 9141 when he returned to the training battalion. On 10 Oct 1941 he was transferred to the 2/32 Battalion.
