Pre War
Had served in France (WW1?) with the Motor Transport, British Army Service Corps. On 24 Apr 1924, 30 year old John (Motor Mechanic), and 22 year old brother James Alexander (Railway Fireman) departed London aboard the SS Berrima
During 1930 John had married Margaret Hull Bell (1889 - 8 Sep 1982).
War Service
Enlisted at Claremont on 29 Dec 1941 and posted to the Trade Training Centre where a year later on 27 Nov 1943 in Maylands he was promoted Corporal. On 23 Sep 1943 he was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital at Hollywood, suffering with Dyspepsia for a Medical assessment. Transferred the same day to an assessment unit (GDD Medical Wing), he was then the following day released from hospital into a transit unit to await discharge.
Discharged as medically unfit on 16 Dec 1943.
