On 10 May 1946, No. 4 Repair and Salvage Unit RAAF completed its move from Parkes to Amberley, and was re-named No. 482 Maintenance Squadron. The unit became a component of No. 82 Wing, responsible for the maintenance of the Consolidated B-24 Liberator aircraft held on strength at the 12th, 21st and 23rd Squadrons.
