Brief History

In August 1943 the Anti Aircraft units in Australia were re-organised, and as a result the 4th Australian Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery was formed at North Head, Sydney in January 1944. They moved to Darwin the following month, with the 381st Heavy Anti Aircraft Troop (Static) to relieve the 2nd Australian Anti Aircraft Battery (Static). With a decline in enemy aircraft movements, in June 1944 the Anti Aircraft defences were reviewed, leading to the 4th Australian Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery (Static) and the 381st Heavy Anti Aircraft Troop declared surplus and they left for Greta in New South Wales during December 1944 where they were disbanded.
