Brief History

This unit was formed at Ascot Racecourse in Brisbane during September 1942 when it split away the Transit Company of the Queensland Lines of Communication Area General Details Depot. It was responsible for troops going on leave or those transiting through Brisbane. In February 1943 it had the capacity to handle 1,000 troops moving through the unit, and in August they moved to the Exhibition Ground. In November a detachment was sent to Townsville to establish a unit that was later called 19th Personnel Staging Camp. In May 1943 the main unit moved to Moorooka, operating from there for the rest of the war.
