No 2 Airfield Defence Squadron was formed on 10 April 1945 at Morotai. The unit, now No 2 Security Forces Squadron, is part of No 95 Wing with the headquarters based at RAAF Base Amberley. Its main responsibilities include security and air base defence for domestic airbase operations in all permanent RAAF bases in Queensland and the Northern Territories, as well as deploying for expeditionary air base operations. It consisteD of a HQs and five rifle companies.

Brief History

No 2 Airfield Defence Squadron was formed on 10 April 1945 at Morotai. ( Now known as No 2 Security Forces Squadron, part of No 95 Wing with the headquarters based at RAAF Base Amberley). Its main responsibilities included security and air base defences. It consisted of a HQs and five rifle companies.

A Flight (Rifle Company) was deployed to Labuan during the landing at Labuan. The unit was disbanded on 29 Oct 1945
