Owned by the Peninsular and Oriental Steam Navigation Company. Her sister ships were SS Karmala; SS Kashmir; SS Kiva; and SS Kyber. For most of the war she continued to carry mail between the UK and Australia, while carrying some passengers and AIF Troops.
Post WW1 she serviced the London to China and Japan route via Singapore, Bombay, Port Said, Marseilles and Gibraltar. She was sold to Japan in 1932 to be broken up.
