Enlisted at Karrakatta on 22 Jun 1943. At the time of his enlistment he had six children under 16 years of age. Initially was in a General Reserves unit before being sent to the [[13th Australian Infantry Training Battalion]] at Northam on 5 Jul 1943. On 4 Jan 1944 he changed his religion from Catholic to Methodist, and on 15 Feb 1944 he was posted to the [[19th Australian Garrison Battalion]]. On 1 Jul 1943 Albert was deemed to be proficient for pay, before having it withdrawn on 1 Sep 1944.

On 4 Nov 1944 Albert was transferred to the [[10th Australian Garrison Battalion]], with his proficiency pay restored on 1 Aug 1944. On 25 Jan 1945 he was detached to the [[10th Australian Base Stores Platoon RAE]]. From 20 to 25 Aug 1945 Albert required hospital attention from the York District Hospital after which he returned to the stores platoon until 27 Nov 1945 when he moved to [[Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot]] to undertake his discharge which occurred on 7 Dec 1945.

During 1932 Albert married Annie E Cairn in Northampton. (1909 - 1963) Their children were Nellie, Albert, Leonard, Annette, Gerald, and Stephen.

War Service
