Brief History

Thought to have been formed as the 5th Military District Line of Communication Provost Company during October 1941 in Perth from the Western Command Provost Company to undertake the policing duties in the Perth area. As a result of the general reorganisation in April 1942 it was renamed 5th Australian Lines of Communication Provost Company. They operated generally from Swan Barracks in East Perth, but also had detachments at Guildford, Mt Lawley, Fremantle and Kalgoorlie, with between six and eight sections.
