War Service

Alexander's first contact with the Army was on 7 May 1942 when he was called in for a mobilisation interview. As an orchard worker he was exempt at that time, but on 20 Aug 1942 Alexander enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Carinyah and was allocated to the 12th (Jarrah) VDC Battalion Alex was a member of 2 Platoon, 'A' Company. On 7 Feb 1944, along with many others his Army number was changed from W84509 to W62440, and he was placed on the Reserve List on 31 Jul 1944 with the rest of his unit.

Post War

During 1952 Alex married Corallie Rose Martin (1920 - 2002) locally. Corallie died on 2 Dec 2001 in Kingsley. Daughter Jean Julie Larson, and two other children.
