Notes
Family record his dob as 1890 not 1892 as is in his military records. This is most likely as if he had declared he was over 50 it is unlikely that he would have been accepted for military service.
Edgar had served during WW1 from 24 Feb 1917 as 15420 Pte Gale, arriving in England in Jan 1918 aboard SS Canberra. As a member of the 4th Division Train, he appears to have remained in England before returning to Australia on the SS Konigin Luise. He was discharged on 27 Feb 1920.
