Early Life
Michael was born in Dumbartonshire, Scotland on 15 August 1890. Michael's father was William Glendinning (1864-1943) and mother Agnes McInnes (1869-1923). He arrived in Fremantle Australia on 3 October 1911 aboard the ship "Orsova". He was listed as a labourer.
Marriage
The wedding of Michael and Fanny Green took place in St Matthew's Church, Armadale on 27 December 1922. The couple had been engaged on 16 December 1921. Fanny Green was the daughter of Mrs A Green of Armadale.
Residences
According to electoral rolls, Michael lived on William Street, Armadale during both the 1939 and 1943 census. He is listed as living at Lawley Street in Maylands in 1949.
Service Record
Michael enlisted with the AIF on 1 February 1915 in Geraldton. He was with 5th Reinforcements 1th Battalion on 24 April 1915, and also service in France and Gallipoli. Michael received various medals including 1914-15 Gallipoli Star and M.S.M. - Meritorious Service Medal on 18 June 1918. On 25 March 1918 he was promoted to E.R. Staff Sargent.

Michael and Fanny had two sons, William Angus (1924-2009) and Douglas Ian (1925-2013)
