Pre War
Frank emigrated to Australia from London, leaving on 25 Aug 1923 aboard the SS Euripides. He was listed on the manifest as a 23 year old grocer from 'Will farm', Arthington near Leeds. Previous service in the Royal Navy - enlisted for 12 years from 4 May 1917 {No.J35604), but demobilised on 8 Jun 1921. Frank departed England from London on 25 Aug 1923 aboard SS Euripides arriving in Albany During 1925 Frank married Eileen E Dunn. Eileen died on 27 Aug 1989 in Victoria.
Electoral Roll entries: 1931 at Group Settlement 84, Airdale, farmer; 1943 at River road, Kelmscott, labourer. 1935 - 1939 listed in the 1939 Post Office Directories at Canning Weir.
War Service
Frank enlisted in the CMF on 20 Sep 1940 and was appointed as a Temporary Lance Corporal in 5th Australian Lines of Communication Provost Company. The following day he was admitted to Lucknow Private Hospital in Claremont with a gastric ulcer, remaining with them until 19 Nov 1940. On17 Jan 1941 Frank was promoted Temporary Corporal. He was detached briefly to Kalgoorlie in August (escort duty?) before spending from 10 - 17 Oct 1941 at home sick. From 4 - 10 Dec 1941 he was detached to Adelaide (escort duty?) and the on 29 Jun 1942 he was posted to Merredin on Special duty, returning to Melville Camp on 30 Nov 1942, he rejoined his unit on 16 Dec 1942. On 30 Dec 1943 Frank was confirmed as a Corporal and on 16 Oct 1945 he was posted to the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for discharge processing, with the actual discharge date being 24 Oct 1945.
