Stan married Elsie Lilian on 11 Mar 1939. Son ...man Charles was born 3 Sep 1939; son Barry Edward on 6 Jan 1941, and daughter Lilian Mary on 11 Jan 1945.
War Service
Enlisted on 31 Aug 1943 as an Aircraftsman level 1 and mustered as Carpenter II
On 11 Sep 1943 he was posted to No.4 Recruiting Depot before being sent to RAAF Peace Headquarters on 16 Oct 1943. On 18 Dec 1943 this was changed to No. 7 Communications Unit. The Communication Flights were involved in ferrying passengers and the occasional aircraft around Australia and New Guinea. Passengers were generally high ranking personnel such as General Blamey, senior public servants and the occasional overseas visitors. Some of the other activities that the unit participated in were:-
- target drogue towing,
- photographic missions,
- co-operation and communication flights for both Australian Army and the Royal Australian Navy,
- ferrying parts and equipment,
- safe-hand mail delivery,
- occasional medical evacuations.
Promoted Leading Aircraftsman on 1 Jan 1944, he was briefly hospitalised from 21 - 25 Apr 1944. Stan was posted to No. 5 Personnel Depot on 18 Mar 1946 and discharged on 29 Mar 1946
