Pre War
War Service
On 21 Jul 1941 Hamilton was mobilised and posted to the HQ 7th Heavy Brigade RAA (M). On 28 Jul 1941 he marched into Rottnest Island's Kingstown Barracks. He was sent on a Local Operator's Course before qualifying as an Instrument Operator Trade Group II on 28 Sep 1942. From 24 Dec 1942 until 8 Apr 1943 he attended a Radio Physics Course during which time he was a Lance Sergeant.
On returning to his unit Hamilton reverted to Gunner, but on 10 Jul 1943 he was appointed a Lance Bombardier. On 6 Sep 1943 Hamilton was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital, rejoining his unit on 17 Sep 1943. On 26 Aug 1943 he was promoted Bombardier, but a year later on 18 Oct 1944 he was discharged to contribute to Essential Services (State brickworks), having spent only two days with the Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot.

Electoral Roll entries: 1943 - 1968 Fourth road, Armadale, labourer; 1972 at 11 The Grove, Armadale by himself as Doris died 8 Jun 1969, aged 66 in Armadale.
