In 1923 her name was changed to SS City of Houston and on 1 Jun 1942 she was acquired by the War SHipping Administration. On 4 Jan 1946 she was returned to her previous owners at Shanghai, China who onsold her the same day to the Republic of China, who renamed her SS Hai Wai
