Pre War
During 1918 he had suffered a severe bout on "pneumonic Flue", and in 1922 had broken his right wrist. Edgar's first marriage lasted only a short time, marrying Gladys T Pascoe in the Canning district during 1925. Gladys died in early 1927 in the Beverley Hospital. With her untimely death Edgar married Muriel Alice Merrifield Pascoe (A sister of Gladys??) in Perth during 1930.

War Service
Edgar enlisted in Pinjarra and was allocated to the 4th (Bunbury) VDC Battalion. On 28 Sep 1942 he was promoted to the rank of Corporal in 'D' Company, and on 12Jun 1943 he was again promoted, this time to Sergeant. He was sent on an NCO's Course at Harvey from 5-26 Jun 1943 before beig placed on the Reserve List on 31 Dec 1944.
Edgar was discharged on 15 Oct 1945.
