Remarks

A member of 43 Squadron and retained by the RAAF until sold to Airmotive on 18 May 1953.


During World War II, PBYs were used in anti-submarine warfare, patrol bombing, convoy escort, search and rescue missions (especially air-sea rescue), and cargo transport. members of 43 Squadron along with 20, and 42 Squadrons were primarily used to drop mines in waters around the Indonesian islands to restrict and damage Japanese shipping.


Immediately after the conclusion of hostilities, several of them flew Australian POWs home.
