Enlisted in Armadale for part time service on 22 Mar 1942 and taken on strength by the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion with Army Number W67975. On 6 Nov 1943 his number was changed to W21538. Clive was placed ont he Reserve on 1 May 1945 and the VDC Battalions were formally closed on 15 Oct 1945.
