Fargo Military Hospital ward 1918 | |
Brief History
An artillery training camp was constructed at Fargo in 1904, and just prior to the commencement of WW1, a 1,200 bed Military hospital was constructed to cater for the 35,000 or so men based in the Larkhill complex of camps. It was central to many of the Australian camps at Perham Downs, Codford, Durrington, Larkhill and Sutton Veny as well as the Australian HQs at Tidworth. As a result many ill and injured Australians were admitted to this hospital during WW1.
