Pre War

During 1914 - 1922 Albert attended the Beenup (Byford) Primary School, and in 1933 he married Thelma Maude Dyson (1914 - 2002). Thelma died on 17 Sep 2002 in Belmont. They had two children with one being Brian Kevin Brockwell (1935 - 1992).

War Service

Enlisted in the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion at Armadale on 22 Mar 1942. On 1 Jul 1942 he was appointed Lance Corporal in 'D' Company, but on 1 Aug 1942 he reverted to Private at his own request. Placed on the Reserve on 1 May 1945, he was formally removed from the Army when VDC's were abolished on 15 Oct 1945
