War Service

John was mobilised at Swanbourne on 4 Apr 1941, and was posted to the 5th Australian Garrison Battalion. on 4 Nov 1941 John was admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital for a week, returning to his unit on 11 November. On 20 Jul 1942 he was again admitted to the 110th Australian Base Hospital who passed him to the 109th Australian Convalescent Depot They granted him sick leave from 6 - 27 Oct 1942 after which he rejoined his battalion on 6 Nov 1942. However, John was discharged on 6 Dec 1942 as medically unfit - no details are included in his scanned records.

Post WW 2

During WW1 John had served in the AIF for 3 years, including the 16th Battalion. Electoral Roll entries: 1949 - 1954 at Eleventh avenue Armadale, labourer; 1958 at 'Eventide', Albany highway, Gosnells.

Margaret died 28 Sep 1955 aged 67 in Armadale.
