Brief History

During May 1943 the AASC Units then in New Guionea were re-organised and the 182nd Australian Supply Platoon emerged from the split up of the 2/2nd Base Support Depot.

In January 1944 the 182nd Australian Supply Depot Platoon' was a member of the supporting units for the 7th Australian Infantry Division as it advanced up the Ramu valley towards Madang, with the 182nd establishing itself at Dumpu. In April as the advance neared the coast the unit moved to Lae, followed by a move to Madang in May. In July they returned to Tenterfield in Australia with the 15th Australian Infantry Brigade, in September to Warwick, and in October to Strathpine.

Identified as part of the support units chosen to support the 9th Australian Infantry Divisions liberation of the area around Brunei Bay in Borneo they moved to Morotai in March/April and remained there until September when they accompanied the 33rd Australian Infantry Brigade to supervise the Japanese surrender on Ambon.
