Brief History

When Australian troops relieved the last US troops in New Guinea and New Britain, the ordnance depots were reorganised. 4th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot at Lae was split to also form the 18th Australian Advanced Ordnance Deppot which in November moved to Jacquinot Bay on the south coast of New britain where they joined 5 Base Sub Unit with a reduced work force until the end of the war when they joined 11th Australian Infnatry Division supervising the Japanese surrender at Rabaul.
