Ernest was born in Cumbria England on 13 September 1885.

Ernest married Jessie Gibson (nee Farren) on 8 September 1923 in Durham U.K. He and Jessie had two children Ronald Parkin Gibson (1923-2002) and Elizabeth (Betty) Gibson (1930-2001).

Ernest was a member of the Kelmscott/Roleystone RSL Club. He served in WW1

Ernest died on 30 October 1936.
