Brief History

Mobilised as the 121st Reserve Motor transport Company at Melville in December 1941, it was attached to the 13th Infantry Brigade Group to carry troops. A section was detached in January 1942 to provide trans[port for the 4th Infantry Brigade which was set up as a mobile force to operate outside Perth. While two sections remained at Melville, in April the rest of the unit moved to Bellevue, and then the next month to Karrakatta. In June they concentrated at Moora and Melville an were re-organised with the Moora group forming the 138th General Transport Company while the Melville group moved to Karrakatta and was renamed as the 134th Australian Motor Transport Company with four platoons.

Their next move was to Bushmead in June 1943, followed Salters Point in September 1943, remaining there until war's end. Seven men died while a member of this unit despite it never leaving Australia - injuries, accidents and illness.
