This unit was formed at Melville camp in August 1941 from the Western Command Provost Company, to be attached to the 13th Australian Infantry Brigade Group which at the time was defending Fremantle. In April 1942 the unit moved to Chidlows where their line of command changed to the 4th Australian Infantry Division Provost Company. In June 1942 they were absorbed into the 4th Australian Infantry Division Provost Company in June 1942.
