Brief History
This unit was formed in mid-1942 at Ascot and Doomben Racesourses to manage the large number of Australian and US troops passing through Brisbane. In December 1942 the unitwas reformed as the 17th Personnel Staging Camp' at Ascot before moving to Kalinga in March 1943. In July 1945 it relocated to Logan Village to occupy a large base built to house US troops earlier in the war. It continued to operate until after the war.
