Brief History
One of a number of units raised at the Central Signals Training Centre at Bonegilla in January 1943 to be part of the 3rd Company New Guinea Line of Communication Signals which was to take over the signals system at Milne Bay. In March they moved to Yeerongpilly in Queensland. In April 1943 they moved to join the Port Moresby base line network, and in June 1 Company became 1 Company, 18th Line of Communication Signals. By December 24 Australian Line Section had detachmets at Bulldog and at Oro Bay before they left New Guinea in July 1944 for Balcombe in Victoria.
In March 1945 they moved back to New Guinea to relieve the 19th Australian Line Section via Grovely in Queensland. In May they had reached Aitape where they joined the 3rd Company, 19th Line of Communication Signals before sending a detachment to Wewak. In June, they left a detachment at Aitape and moved to Boram where they maintained the line network until the end of the war.
