Brief History
While the Western Command Troops Ammunition Company was on the mobilisation plans, only the section attached to the 13th Infantry brigade Group was mobilised in December 1941. In April 1942 this section transferred to the4th Australian Infantry Division AASC, and despite the unit proper remaining inactive, it was retitled 3rd Australian Corps Troops Ammunition Company. In January 1943 at Melville, Western Australia the unit was mobilised to their war establishment levels and then moved to Ardath in March. A month later in April they were re-organised as the 38th Company AASC, and then moved to Werribee in May where they absorbed men from the 3rd Australian Corps Troops Supply Column. In October they returned to Melville to work around the Perth area until as a result of the reduction in troops in Western Australia, they were disbanded in June 1944.
