Brief History

In September 1942the Melbourne based Ordnance Service - Provision was re-organised to form a Central Provisions Office, and a series of provision sections attached to base and advanced ordnance depots to manage procurement of a wide range of items. 5th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot - Provision Section was raised with 10 officers and 69 men to join the 7th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot at Midland Junction, moving to Nungarin in August 1944. 5th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot - Provision Section was then absorbed into 7th Australian Advanced Ordnance Depot.
