In January 1943 it relocated to Jungara, near Cairns where it grew to 310 beds, including a women's wing, and a malarial research facility.

In May 1944 with fewer casualties arriving from New Guinea it relocated to Charters Towers, downsized to 90 beds. In March 1945 it had grown again to 210 beds before moving to Port Moresby in July 1945 where it spent the rest of the war.
