Pre War
During 1925 Albert married Laurel Mavis Dunlop in Perth. Daughter Shirley Elaine, son Albert Donald Electoral Roll entries: 1925 at 129 West parade, East Perth, motor driver; 1931 at 65 Canterbury terrace, Victoria Park, labourer; 1943 Roleystone road, Roleystone, cement worker.
War Service
On 28 Dec 1941 Albert was taken on strength full time, initially as a member of the 5th Australian Garrison Battalion, and on 9 Jan 1942 he was posted to the No. 4 Post at Point Peron. On 17 Feb 1942 he was charged with having been AWOL from 5:00pm on 15 Feb 1942 until 11:45am on the next day. He forfeited a days pay and was fined 10/- ($1).
On 17 Apr 1942 he transferred to Area Signals WA Lines of Communication, and on 21 Apr 1942 he was detached to the 6th Australian Infantry Brigade at Chidlows until 26 Nov 1942. On 2 Dec 1942 he was detached again, this time to 'X' Battery, returning to his unit on 10 Feb 1943 and then the same day to the 4th Australian Anti Aircraft Battery Signals Detachment. After a period of leave, on 18 Jun 1943 Albert boarded SS Chungking in Fremantle for Exmouth Gulf where on 29 Jun 1943 he rejoined his unit now known as 15th Lines of Communication Signals. on 1 Jul 1943 he returned to the units Naval Base Headquarters.
On 19 Aug 1943 Albert was charged with having been AWOL from midday until 10:30pm on 16 Sep 1943. Fined £2 ($4) and automatic loss of a days pay. Albert was transferred to Western Command Recruit Reception & General Details Depot for discharge on 5 Jan 1944 on the grounds of providing Essential Services.
