Pre War

On 22 Sep 1906 Beverley had married Ellen Every Miller in Victoria Park. In Dec 1918 a Divorce case in the Supreme Court between Beverley and Ellen and her co-respondent J.V. Hopwood. Ellen died in Geraldton in 1938.

War Service

On entering camp at Guildford, Beverley was allocated to the 10th Light Horse Regiment, and following their training at Guildford camp, the Claremont Showgrounds and Rockingham camp he travelled to Egypt with them. In Egypt they settled in at Mena camp on the outskirt of Cairo to continue their training. On 16 May 1915 the 10th Light Horse Regiment boarded the SS Lutzow for Gallipoli, landing in the early evening of 21 May 1915.

Promoted Corporal on 16 Aug 1915, Beverley reported sick on 2 Sep 1915 to the 3rd Light Horse Field Ambulance. Promoted again, this time to Sergeant on 14 Oct 1915, and he was temporarily Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant from 25 Sep 1915. As the number of men from the unit on Gallipoli was allowed to reduce over time, it is not possible to say when he was evacuated to Lemnos Island. However, on 24 Dec 1915 he embarked on HMT Caledonia for Alexandria where he disembarked on 27 Dec 1915.

Back in Egypt Beverley spent time at a training school before becoming ill on 7 Mar 1916 and being admitted to hospital at Gabel Habieta, returning to duty on 20 Mar 1916. On 31 Mar 1916 he was promoted Squadron Quarter Master Sergeant.

On 1 Oct 1916 he was again ill and hospitalised by the 2nd Australian Stationary Hospital at Port Said until 15 Oct 1916 when he was released to Base Details in Port Said. On 31 Oct 1916 he rejoined the 10th Light Horse, where on 13 Dec 1916 he was appointed 2nd Lieutenant. On 21 Feb 1917 he completed his Officer's Course, achieving a mark of 80%, and was posted for duty with the 3rd Light Horse Training Regiment where on 19 May 1917 he was promoted to Lieutenant.

Three days later he presented to the 14th Australian General Hospital in Abbassia with appendicitis. Released to the Convalescent Depot at Bulkley on 16 Jun 1917. He returned to duty on 8 Jul 1917 and on 8 Sep 1917 he returned to the 10th Light Horse Regiment. On 25 Oct 1917 he was sent to Suez, and on 27 Oct 1917 boarded HMAT A55 Kyarra for 4 weeks leave in Australia. Return route to Perth was via Melbourne.

In Australia on 21 Feb 1918 his appointment was terminated.

Post War

In late 1921 Beverley married Alice Mena Glyde (b. 1887). Alice died on 14 Jun 1972 in South Perth aged 86. They divorced at some time during WW2.
