Pre War

War Service

Entered camp on 17 Aug 1918 and on 8 Oct 1918 was allocated to a general reinforcement draft. However with the end of hostilities, the Army only waited to see the Armistice hold for a month before it discharged him on 24 Dec 1918


Discharged 5th Military District on 24 Dec 1918 due to Cessation of Hostilities

Post War

Joined the Western Australian Government railways on 21 Oct 1919 as a casual labourer at Busselton until 19 May 1920, and their permanent workforce as a repairer on 16 Feb 1921 at Glenlynn. In 1922 he was a repairer at Manjimup, before becoming a ganger at Lawler in 1924, and then Mt Magnet in Nov 1925, Eastbrook in Nov 1926, Greenbushes in Oct 1930, Brunswick Junction in Jun 1931, Coolup in Jan 1938, back to Brunswick Junction in Oct 1938. He retired on invalidity grounds on 18 Jan 1948. However on the 1949 & 1950 Electoral Rolls he is still listed as a railway employee.

In 1921 Charles married Elizabeth Olive Owen. Elizabeth died 22 Mar 1987 aged 88?
