Posted to [[No. 3 WAAAF Training Depot RAAF]] the same day, she undertook a Basic Drill course before being transferred on 24 Jul 1942 to the [[No. 5 Initial Training School RAAF]] at Clontarf. However, she was then detached on 20 Aug 1942 to [[No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF]] where on 29 Sep 1942 she was reclassified as a Sick Quarter Attendant pay group IV. Dorothy was formally transferred on 22 Jan 1943 to the [[No. 5 School of Technical Training RAAF]] and on 13 May 1943 she was remusterd as a Nursing Orderly.
