World War 1

Eaneas had enlisted in Victoria as a 19 years old farm labourer on 15 Mar 1916. Following training he was posted as a reinforcement for the 21st Battalion, and was taken on strength by them in France on 2 Dec 1916 with regimental number 5363. During the winter of 1916/17 he was affected by the cold and was admitted to hospital in France on 17 Dec 1916. Although he rejoined his unit on 26 Jan 1917, he was again in hospital on 20 Feb 1917 and eventually evacuated to England on 2 Mar 1917 aboard HMHS Aberdonian with gangrene to the left big toe. He spent 30 days receiving treatment for VD when he again entered France, before he rejoined the battalion on 20 Jun 1917. Eaneaas required further medical treatment from 15 Sep until 23 Oct 1917.

On 21 Dec 1917 he was wounded in action with a shell wound to his left buttock, and a week later on 28 Dec 1917 he was embarked on HS Pieter de Coninck for hospital in England. Following treatment he returned to |France and rejoined his battalion on 3 Apr 1918. Eaneas was wounded in action a second time on 5 Oct 1918,and was evacuated to England once again on 9 Oct 1918 with a bullet wound to his right leg. While recovering he went AWOL from 2 - 7 Jan 1919, forfeiting 5 days pay, and fined another 10 days pay.

Pre War

Electoral Roll entries: 1931 Group 119 , Northcliffe, farmer; 1937 Byford, farmer. During 1930 Eaneas had married Elsie Mary Browne (1905 - 1936) in Perth. Elsie died in Northcliffe aged 30 on 9 Apr 1936. They had a daughter Elsie Joyce Matuerite Lorenz (1931 - 2004). He later married Christiana Gladys Browne (1898 - 2003). Gladys died in Northcote on 22 Nov 2003 aged 105.

War Service

Eaneas was a member of 2nd (Fremantle) Battalion of the Volunteer Defence Corps overseen by the RSL from 1 Jun 1941 until he enlisted in the Militia. On 22 Mar 1942 Eaneas enlisted in the Militia and was posted to the No 2 VDC (Fremantle) Battalion. there, on 31 Jul 1942 he was promoted Lieutenant, but on 30 Apr 1943 he resigned his commission, which was accepted. Discharged on 30 Apr 1943.

Post War

1954 - 1980 at 6 Forrest road, Armadale, retired.
