He was droving for some time. It is known that he returned to England where he married Jessie (in 1913), then the couple came to Australia, beginning Ernest's second stint here.

Early Life

Ernest Thomas Thatcher was born in 1872 in Bedminster, Somerset, England.

Early years in Australia

Ernest initially spent time in NSW from the age of 21. This was his first stint in Australia, beginning in 1892. He and Tommy Talbot drove sheep from Mundrabilla Station to Perth.
