War Service
Entered Guildford camp on 2 Feb 1916 and on 8 Feb 1916 he was allocated to Artillery Reinforcements. Prior to travelling to Victoria to undergo training there, he spent from 7 - 27 Apr 1916 in 8th Australian General Hospital in Fremantle being treated for thrombosis. On 1 Jun 1916 before boarding ship he was allocated to the 2nd Section of the 3rd Division Ammunition Column. On arrival in England his unit as part of the 3rd Division undertook further training before proceeding overseas to France on 24 Nov 1916.
Frank was granted leave in England from 20 Jan 1918 until 5 Feb 1918, after which from 21 Feb 1918 until 3 Mar 1918 he was ill, hospitalised with first the 10th Field Ambulance and then the 11th Field Ambulance, treated for laryngitis. He enjoyed another leave in the UK from 21 Dec 1918 until 8 Jan 1919, when again he was ill and hospitalised. Frank rejoined his unit in France on 10 Feb 1919 and he remained with them until 6 May 1919 when it was his turn to begin the journey home to Australia.
Before leaving England he was granted leave from 19 Jun 1919 until 19 Aug 1919, with pay, to learn stock breading at Ford Hill, Amerthorn, Halifax. On 26 Aug 1919 he was granted embarkation leave until 10 Sep 1919 when he reported to Sutton Veny. Back home in Australia, Frank was discharged by the 5th Military District on 27 Dec 1919.
