Frederick Wilfred Salter lived in Kelmscott until his untimely death at 8 years of age on 19 August 1908. Frederick appeared to have drowned in the Canning River, where his body was found after a search by many townspeople, following his disappearance.
Frederick's mother was a lady named Ellen Elizabeth Gilmore Best. She had married Samuel Salter Jr (who was possibly her second husband) and she was Samuel Salter's second wife. The pair divorced in 1900.
