Pre War

War Service

Transferred on 27 Mar 1944 to serve in the Navy as a cook until 4 Jul 1947. On joining the navy (RANR) he was first sent to HMAS Cerebus on the Mornington peninsula in Victoria. He then transferred to the RAN on 18 Oct 1944 and his next posting was Adelaide from 18 Oct 1944 until 26 Feb 1945

George's Naval records speak of his joining the RAN without his father's consent which he would not give. Their decision was to allow him to remain until he turned 21 at which time he would be able to sign on again or take a 'free' discharge.

Post War

Signed on for another two years in the RAN at the completion of hostilities.
