During 1930 Hammond married Muriel McClelland Roberts (1903-1952). Muriel died on 14 Feb 1952 in Bedfordale. They had six children.

During 1962 Hammond married Margaret Amelia MacDonald (1905 - 1992). Margaret died in South Perth on 17 Aug 1992, aged 87.
