Herbert married Ruby Alice Lockhart (1892 - 1972) on 22 Oct 1913 in Gosnells. Ruby died in Perth on 6 Oct 1972. They had three children: Juanita Daphne Martin (1914 - 1986); Ernest Gordon Martin (1917 - 2000); and Phillip Herbert Martin DFC & Bar (1923 - 2010).
