On 29 Aug 1963 he was transferred to the Kewdale depot, and from 25 Oct 1970 until he resigned on 28 Mar 1973, Jack reduced his hours of work  to 25 hours per week as a part time goods porter position at the Kewdale depot with the WAGR. His wife Emma died on 10 May 1957.
