James had married Amelia prior to 1910. Amelia (1881 - 1970) died on 2 Jul 2012 aged 89 in Como.

==War Service==
On 1 Jul 1942 in Armadale James enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps and was allocated to the [[2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion]]' 'D' Company. On 1 May 1945 he was transferred to the Reserve.
