War Service
John enlisted in Gnowangerup on 22 Jul 1941 in the RSL managed VDC, and he was taken on strength of the Army supported 6th (Albany) VDC Battalion's 'B' Company on 4 Apr 1942. On 10 Sep 1944 he was discharged at his own request.
Post War
During 1945 John married Doreen Alma Beatty (1920 - 2017) in Perth. Doreen died on 8 Apr 2017 in Bentley.
