War Service
Entered camp on 26 Mar 1917 and 3 days later was allocated to the 10th reinforcement draft for the 51st Battalion. However, from 23 Apr 1917 until 28 Sep 1917 he served in Australia as a member of the 5th District Guard. On 28 Sep 1917 he was transferred to the 27th reinforcement draft for the 11th Battalion and travelled with them to England from Melbourne, arriving at Devonport on 24 Dec 1917, and disembarking on the 27th.
On arrival in England he was sent to the 2nd Training Battalion at Sutton Veny. On 1 Apr 1918 he proceeded overseas to France, but as a reinforcement for the 51st Battalion who he joined on 6 Apr 1918 after a few days in the 4th Divisions Base Depot at Calais.
