Known as 'Jack'. A grocer who was a friend of Armadale POW Hartland Richards who sent him a card from prison camp in Germany. At Blackboy Hill camp he was allocated to D Coy of the 32nd Battalion at that time being raised in South and Western Australia. Angelo was the only local to travel aboard the HMAT A13 Katuna to Egypt.

On 4 Feb 1916 he forfeited a day's pay for overstaying leave at Ismailia, and three weeks later was transferred to the 16th Battalion. Granted leave in August 1917, on 18 Oct 1917 while a member of a working party on Westhoek Ridge he suffered a bomb wound to his back.
