During 1936 Leonard married Mary Eliza (Mollie) Wight (1911 - 1999) in the blackwood district. Mary died in Bunbury on 29 Jun 1999 aged 88. They had two children.

War Service

On 22 Mar 1942 Leonard enlisted in the Volunteer Defence Corps at Armadale and was allocated to the 2nd (Fremantle) VDC Battalion. On 6 Nov 1943 his Army number was changed from W68024 to W62270, and on 1 May 1945 along withthe rest of his unit he was transferred to the Reserve.
